Timber frame is one of the most established form and most used forms of structural timber. Technologically advanced and the most sustainable form of construction material, it enables the two types, both open and closed panel timber frame build systems to be designed and manufactured offsite in factory controlled conditions.
As products are manufactured offsite, higher levels of quality control mean exemplary accuracy, while improving speed of build on site. Reduced site prelims, less material waste and labour requirement, lower site and office overheads, improved productivity and supervision on site all save time. Improved build quality results in reduced snagging and higher satisfaction levels while faster build times with an average of 25% less labour days on site, improves cash flow.
Structural Insulated Panels, known as SIPs are engineered timber panels consisting an insulating rigid foam core of expanded polystyrene or polyurethane foam, inserted between two structural facings, typically oriented strand board (OSB). These insulated load bearing panels are an advanced method of construction providing high levels of quality control.
SIPs are manufactured offsite in factory-controlled conditions delivering excellent structural and thermal characteristics in one system. The core materials provide thermal insulation, resisting moisture penetration while the insulating core also reduces the overall panel weight.
