An initiative by the Structural Timber Association

Construction

There is a real difference in how structural timber offsite manufactured panels are delivered and constructed on site, compared to other building materials.

Once the panels and other components of the building have been manufactured and quality approved, delivery to site is next. Panels will be loaded in order of installation making it easy to offload once on site.
Preparation will be needed to accommodate large heavy goods vehicles along with a clear hard standing required within crane distance of the slab on which the system will be erected. The crane must be situated on stable ground conditions to accommodate the installation of the timber system.

Your chosen structural timber manufacturer will provide detailed requirements to you in advance while the installation team will provide all necessary Health and Safety requirements including risk assessments and method statements.

Its important to also advise follow on trades that they will be working within a structural timber building where adjustments may be required to ways of working, timescales and programme. Your manufacturing partner will provide full details and assist in providing toolbox talks for the site teams.
