Mass timber covers two primary build systems– Glulam and CLT.
Glulam is ideally suited to large scale buildings where the scale and strength of the glulam support the design and size of building. This build system is ideally suited to office buildings, commercial construction along with residential buildings.
Cross laminated timber (CLT) can be used for a wide range of build projects including commercial, leisure, education and multistorey projects. It can also be used in hybrid construction with other materials, such as steel frame, or as the sole building material. CLT panels serve as load- bearing elements with robust soundproofing and superior airtightness.
